Trees and Time

The lesson aims at reconnecting with nature by exploring the life of nature around us, especially the life of trees, getting more insight into it and celebrating it at the end.

In this lesson, students start lining up according to various criteria, helping them practice numbers and the language of comparisons concluding with the topic of birthdays and age. In the main part of the lesson, students observe their surroundings and guess the age of natural elements like trees and stones. The focus then shifts to trees, where students explore how trees communicate and answer some questions to gain a new perspective on them. The following games revolve around communication among students. The language of comparisons is revisited in the last part of the lesson, using experience from previous activities. At the end of the lesson, students choose a tree together, try to put themselves in its shoes, and suggest a birthday celebration for the tree, including presents.
