Senses

The lesson aims to reconnect students both with nature and themselves. By exploring the forest in a different way through their own senses—its sounds, smells, textures, and more—students may come to appreciate nature more deeply and see it as a great place to relax.

In this lesson, students start with a review of the vocab of senses and play a game that shifts their attention to the natural world, giving opportunity to more advanced students to practise the grammar form I´ve (never) done…. The first sense to be used is hearing followed by a discussion about forest sounds. After that students play an engaging game involving their hearing abilities or quick reactions after being touched. Next, they are invited to explore the forest according to their choice of task (e.g. creating an adventure path, a mysterious bag or land art). At the end they present their work and talk about the benefits of being in a forest.
